5th GradeFuture Fair was a big success! Using the research of Jane McGonigal, students examined current trends, collecting “signals” about our possible future. They combined signals with the future they would hope to see to create a positive view of their future. Each student built a model of their idea, and created an electronic presentation describing their research, their signals, and the sights they used. Parents and guests awarded rave reviews! Congratulations fifth graders!

4th GradeFourth graders studied three major players in the world of architecture: Frank Gehery, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Phillip Johnson. We learned about some common elements of architecture, had fun pretending we were on location at famous landmarks with the green screen, and even had a guest speaker, WHS Senior, Lucy Urdhal. Students are finishing out the year designing a floor plan for a “client” with specific needs and budget. I’ve heard many students comment on the surprising amount of math involved in architecture! 🙂

3rd GradeThe kids have learned that sometimes inventions are “mistakes” and sometime they are invented to solve a problem. Sometimes invention ideas can come to us by observing nature! Please reserve Thursday, May 2 for our annual 3rd grade Invention Convention!
